Happy Election Night! How Are You Spending It?
I'm celebrating this most important day of year for our democracy - and my personal favorite.
I just returned from voting in person and am so happy. I love voting. I love elections. I love our democracy. This may sound corny, but I cry every time I vote. It feels like such a special privilege - one I'm increasingly grateful for, given the turbulent times we're living through. Free and fair elections are not something any of us can take for granted. I wanted to give a personal shout-out to all the political professionals and election-day workers who share these passions. THANK YOU!!!! Whether you're a candidate, campaign or organization staff, donor, volunteer, or consultant, I'm grateful for your dedication to our democracy, progressive policy, and campaigns. I’m also deeply grateful for every election day poll worker. You are all the heroes!
Tonight, I’m lying low and watching returns everywhere. At GAIN Power, we’re rooting for the Democrats in legislative races in LA, MS, NJ, and VA - and Governor in KY and MS. I’m excited about municipal races nationwide, including mine in Cambridge, MA. We have rank-choice voting here, which is awesome because you can ensure your vote has an impact. I’m especially hopeful about the Ohio abortion initiative. So much is at stake across the country!
